so a 17 year old guy drives over a dog one day, belonging to his best friend's mother. instead of taking the dog to a vet, he decides the best thing to do is to tape a plastic bag over its head, drag it behind a car for a while, then hit it on the head with a shovel.
the dog is later found in the middle of an intersection... still alive, and is later put down.
the guy's lawyer argues that it was all done in an attempt at "euthanasia" (after the mangling of car on dog). later on in court, Judge Peter Barley finds that the guy wasn't torturing the dog, because he thought the dog was already dead... um, then why?
apparently none of these actions were deliberate. the youth gets three months house arrest and two years probation. the dog, a life sentence.
moot or hooey?
at 17 he couldn't possibly know better or be accountable for his actions
